May we request a certain coach, practice time or child to play with?
Yes you may. Please inform us of your requests in the comments section of the online registration form or in the designated area on the paper registration form. Please know that the most important part of Evaluation Day is to establish fair teams. In the spirit of team parity, sometimes a request cannot be honored.

What time will my child play?
We cannot determine the season game schedule until after teams are drafted on Evaluation Day. As a rule, we begin our day with the older age group and get younger as the day goes on. We do this since many younger kids play multiple sports. This allows them to play soccer, for example, on Saturday morning and have basketball in the afternoon. The season schedule is completed and mass emailed by the Tuesday after Evaluation Day.

Why are there different youth basketball programs?
For our younger age groups, we are trying to make the program exciting and cost effective. These age groups only meet on the game day. They will practice as teams and then have a scheduled game that day.

We eliminate the need for weekly practices and pass the savings onto you, as an inexpensive way to introduce your child to the game of basketball.

How can my child make SWFL Select Travel?
The travel basketball season is the spring of each year. We hold SWFL Select tryouts in the fall season, prior to the start of each travel season year.

How many travel teams we provide is based on player and parent interest in travel. Some years we have 5 or more teams and other years we may have just a few.

When will we find out what team we are on?
Evaluation Day is the start of every new season.

We rate kids and do our best to create fair teams out of the kids that are at Evaluation Day. We then draft teams.

Coaches then text/call to introduce themselves and discuss the practice day/time. They will notify you on the Sunday or Monday after Evaluation Day.

How does Evaluation Day work?
You show up at the designated time for your age group. Those that registered online check in to get a number. Those that register on evaluation day, they complete paperwork and get assigned a number. It takes 20-30 minutes to check in. Once the entire age group is checked in, the kids will have a 60-75 minute lesson. We rate the kids during the lesson. Coaches then draft players, doing our best to make teams as fair as possible.

Do you ever combine the Lee and Collier teams for Championships?
Yes we do and it is always the goal. We evaluate the talent of both leagues and if there is parity in age groups we like to combine for Championships.

When that happens, the first day of championships would be the Saturday in Lee County. Then Semifinal and Championship Games are on the Sunday in Collier County.
